Role Description:
As a Financial Analyst, you will play a key role in our Finance team at myKaarma, working to analyze, forecast, and drive financial insights that enhance decision-making across the organization. You will be responsible for supporting financial planning and analysis (FP&A), preparing reports, and identifying opportunities for profitability improvements. This role will require collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Product, and Leadership, to ensure alignment on company goals and objectives.
Here’s a scenario to illustrate the innovative approach we value:
Q: “We need to examine our AWS expenses and see if we can structure them to be more economic. What steps would you take?”
A: “I would conduct fundamental research to identify cost-saving opportunities, such as reducing the number of Reserved Instances and moving media files into Cold Storage. I’d present the findings to leadership and implement the changes upon approval.”
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting and Analysis:
Update and analyze topline KPIs for weekly management meetings.
Support the preparation of monthly financial reports and quarterly board packages for investors.
Develop narratives that explain financial results to different departments, enhancing their understanding of the business.
Forecasting and Planning:
Dive into product lines, customer groups, and business lines to understand performance and predict future results.
Assist in the creation of business cases for new ventures and acquisitions.
Creating Value:
Identify opportunities for increased profit through price adjustments and cost reductions.
Define or refine KPIs to drive improved results.
Benchmark results against competitors to pinpoint areas for improvement.
Leverage data and systems to recommend operational changes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, management accounting, or consulting in dynamic and demanding environments.
Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel and Google Sheets), financial analysis, and modeling.
Familiarity with tools such as QuickBooks, Salesforce, and other platforms for data extraction and analysis.
Strong intellectual curiosity with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
Strategic prioritization skills to improve the speed and quality of outcomes.
Nice to Have Skills & Qualifications:
Experience with SaaS, recurring revenue, or subscription-based business models.
